New design recipe for Heinz

26 July 2011

Gilchrist, part of Sun Branding Solutions, played a key role in a redesign of Heinz Big Soups that called for consistency in colour and brand image.

With design agency Cowan, Gilchrist managed the artwork and reprographics for the 515g and 400g can labels across 14 varieties and seven microwavable pots, and attended initial print runs for each printer.

The packaging keeps the green background characteristic of the Big Soup brand and included a new typeface.

“The designs were intricate in terms of how the background image was made up.,” explains Natalie Crawford, Heinz account director at Gilchrist. “As we were working with one printer for the pots and three different printers for the labels, we had to ensure that the green tones were consistent across the range and formats regardless. We carried out a lot of colour work including retouching and proofing.”
