New containerboard mill in action in Manchester

27 February 2012

Following successful trials of Spanish company SAICA’s new recycled paper mill in Partington, Greater Manchester, details of the first new containerboard paper mill in the UK for decades have been put on the company’s website.

The Mill, which started operations ahead of schedule last month, heralds the return of paper-making to Partington with its construction on the banks of the Manchester Ship Canal transforming undeveloped land into a world-leading centre for containerboard manufacture.

The £300million development will produce up to 400,000tpa of 100% recycledcontainerboard each year.

PM11 is the final part of SAICA’s plan to become an integrated player in the UK, providing a closed-loop solution for the manufacture of environmentally responsible, performance papers and corrugated packaging
