Nampak opens new UK milk bottle facility

22 July 2013

Nampak Plastics has opened a new fully operational plant at its site on the Dove Valley Industrial Park in Derbyshire, UK.

Three years in development, the new site will supply plastic milk bottles directly to the adjacent Dairy Crest production facility.

Machinery at the new site has been converted for the production of Nampak’s award-winning lightweight 2-litre and 4-pint Infini milk bottles.

Site manager Carl Jones said: “Being an in-plant bottle manufacturer provides a lot of environmental benefits, such as reducing the cost of transporting empty bottles to dairies for filling.

“These changes mean we can really make the most of that facility and we’re delighted that it will also enable us to create more jobs in Foston.”

Unveiling a plaque to celebrate the new venture, Mark Allen, chief executive of Dairy Crest, added: “We are pleased that Nampak has completed this project.

We aim to have the most efficient dairies in the UK and this is another step towards that goal.”
