Multivac launches versatile low-cost R 085 thermoforming packaging machine

Multivac is launching an entry-level model for thermoforming packaging, the R 085, suitable for packing both non-food and food products.

According to the Germany-based packaging equipment specialist, the R 085 machine is aimed at companies looking to take their first steps in automatic thermoforming packaging, and can be ordered with four standard format layouts.

Suitable for packing both sliced products and individual items, the R 085 is capable of running rigid as well as flexible films, and can be used to produce packs with inert gas as well as vacuum packs so that users can also meet the requirement for extended shelf life for their packaged products.

With its thermoforming depth of up to 80mm, the R 085 provides a wide range of possibilities for pack design, while electric drives used for both the lifting units and the transport chain fulfil the requirements for improved energy efficiency.

“The demand is rising in almost all sectors for particularly high-quality product packaging in small batch sizes,” Multivac says.

“Entry-level solutions that are easy to operate are currently just as much in demand as highly flexible solutions, which can be converted quickly and simply.”

As the lowest cost model in the Multivac range, the R 085 is expected to be of particular interest for small and medium-sized businesses.

It is designed with Multivac Hygienic Design, which enables the machine to be cleaned easily on the inside and outside.

The new Multivac R 085 thermoforming packaging machine will be unveiled for the first time at the Interpack exhibition, Düsseldorf, 8-14 May 2014, in Hall 5, Stand 5 E23.
