Paper and packaging group Mondi has confirmed that its Raubling mill in Germany has successfully passed the audit pursuant to DIN EN 15593:2008, which regulates the requirements to be satisfied by the management of hygiene in the production of packaging for foodstuffs.
By implementing a hygiene management system in compliance with the German Institute for Standardisation standard, the Austria headquartered company says the Raubling mill has: “Demonstrated its capabilities in the paper-based packaging segment and underlined its thorough market and production expertise.”
The implementation has been verified by the Swiss Association for Quality and Management Systems (SQS), an independent certification body.
Raubling mill MD Helmut Endler stresses the importance of hygiene management for customers: “Hygiene certification is of growing significance in today’s challenging market environment and helps us to offer a competitive product range to our customers,” he says.
“It is a clear indication that we produce food contact materials in a stable and compliant way, and according to legal requirements. The audit reflects our strategic approach to addressing customers that require a hygiene certificate as a basic document.
“High-level food producing companies will only accept certified partners.”
Fully integrated across the paper and packaging process, Mondi Group has production operations across 28 countries and revenues of €5.7 billion in 2011. The Group’s key operations are located in central Europe, Russia and South Africa and as at the end of 2011, Mondi employed 23,400 people.
