A new transparent matt barrier film from Amcor, Matt Ceramis is said to be ideally suited to products requiring a luxurious silky touch and non-reflective appearance of a matt film, in combination with the same barrier properties of conventional gloss Ceramis films.
This new film also offers sustainability benefits. Previously, if a matt outer layer was required with a transparent barrier, a packaging engineer would typically have selected a matt outer film, a transparent barrier middle layer, and a PE or PP seal layer on the inner side.
Building barrier properties into the matt film allows the packaging developer to use a 2-ply construction, significantly reducing packaging weight and environmental impact. Amcor also believes its new product is the only halogen-free matt barrier film currently available.
