Makro Labelling UK is to supply one of its Mak-2 machines for labelling new bespoke 32cl bottles at premium soft drink manufacturer Luscombe in Devon, south west England.
According to Staffordshire-based Makro, the 9-platform, 3-station Mak-2 machine has been ordered to operate at a speed of 8000bph on the new Luscombe 24cl, 32cl and 74cl bottles.
Due for installation in April, the Mak-2 labeller will come with stepper motor controlled platform rotation and optical orientation, applying self-adhesive paper labels.
The new bottle design has necessitated orientation, as the labels have to line up with the Luscombe brand embossing on the new bottle format, Makro says.
Makro Labelling UK managing director Richard Portman says: “We met the Luscombe team at the Drinktec exhibition in Germany in September 2013 where Makro exhibited for the first time, which gave us the opportunity to show them both the Mak-2 labeller as well as other machines in the Makro stable.”
The deal with Luscombe came at the perfect time for Makro as it gears up to move into a new factory in June, Portman adds.
Luscombe has been experiencing “phenomenal growth” in recent years, and has recently added new cider and ginger beer lines to its offering.
