LVF speed of service wins confectionery thermoformed packaging contract

14 April 2014

Thermoformed packaging specialist Leeds Vacuum Formers has sealed a sole supplier deal with local confectionery firm Parrs Confectionery.

According to Leeds Vacuum Formers (LVF), it won the new contract after turning round three time-sensitive seasonal confectionery packaging projects for two national UK supermarket chains in less than two weeks.

Two of the Parrs products were chocolate heart gifts for Valentine’s Day, and the third was a make-your-own chocolate lollipop designed for nationwide launch for the Easter 2014 market.

After an initial meeting in early January 2014, within five days LVF was in production with new tooling for the three jobs, and on 16 January the company had delivered 55,000 thermoformed moulds to Parrs.

For each product, LVF developed bespoke tooling that was used on their thermoforming machines to produce plastic moulds.

These were injected with liquid chocolate by Parrs for the Valentine’s milk chocolate hearts, and filled with chocolate pieces for the Easter pack – thus enabling the customer to mould their own chocolate lollipops.

Nigel Coates, managing director of LVF, said: “Reputation is everything in this business and so we aim to enhance ours every day by striving to ensure no customer is ever let down or left disappointed by what we’ve done and how we’ve gone about it.”
