The organisers of the Luxe Pack show in Monaco, which took place 24-26 October 2012, have reported an increase of 10.5% in visitor numbers this year, taking the exhibition above 7,000 for the first time.

At the luxury packaging show, described as “particularly dynamic” this year, organiser IDICE recorded 7,022 visitors, who were able to view “abundant innovations” presented by the 370 exhibitors.

“The show’s internationality was confirmed by 52% of foreign visitors from 68 countries,” says IDICE, also noting a “significant increase” in attendance from the US, Russia and South America.

Perfume and cosmetics was the largest sector represented among visitors followed by alcohol & spirits, delicatessen, fashion accessory, jewellery & watch, pharmacy-health, leather goods, tobacco, writing instruments, table art, and decoration.

Features of the Luxe Pack show this year included a conference entitled ‘Luxury packaging and sustainable development – the new alliance?’, in which experts in sustainable development and responsible luxury, from the likes of LVMH, Guerlain and Chanel, laid the groundwork for reviewing analyses, the relevance, and specificity of a sustainable development initiative in the luxury sector.

Other topics covered in discussion sessions were: designing packaging for a product to be sold online; understanding emerging luxury markets to better adapt packaging; producing exceptional packaging; and associating sensory perception with luxury.

The next Luxe Pack, in Shanghai, will take place April 23-24 2013 at Shanghai International Convention Center, and Luxe Pack New York May 15-16 2013 at the Metropolitan Pavilion and Altman Building.

Next year’s Luxe Pack Monaco will take place from October 23-25 at the Grimaldi Forum.
