Kolbus NM 100 grooving machine launch targets luxury sector

16 December 2013

Kolbus UK has launched the Kolbus NM 100 scoring machine for board sections, to meet demand for high quality, accurate boxes, with crisp corners and a solid finish in the luxury packaging segment.

According to the machinery manufacturer – a wholly owned subsidiary of Kolbus GmbH & Co. KG of Rahden, Germany – special scoring blades on the NM 100 can be set to score angles between 90-130° and can produce up to 65 components/min.

Smooth scoring cuts through to a minimal last board/paper layer, and is combined with precision, ultra-thin application of glue for lining and counter-lining.

Well established in the bookbinding and finishing industries, Kolbus is relatively new to the luxury packaging market, so the company exhibited for the first time at the London Packaging Innovations show in October 2013.

Greg Bird, Kolbus UK sales manager, said: “We were encouraged by the number of visitors who were aware of Kolbus and its reputation in the book market.

“The product samples we had on display impressed them with the versatility of our kit and underlined that we have quality solutions to many of their luxury packaging requirements.”
