Automated Packaging Systems has teamed up with Yamato Corporation to develop the FAS SPrint Revolution semi-automatic scale and bagger combination, designed specifically for fixed weight food packaging applications.
The FAS SPrint Revolution bagger presents a horizontal row of pre-opened APS SidePouch bags that are ready for automatic loading from the fully integrated Yamato Dataweigh TSDW-205W scale.
Suited to packaging fresh food and fragile products such as grapes, shrimp, fruit, vegetables, beef jerky and other products sold by a fixed weight, the new fully integrated system loads the weighed products directly into the bag, and is said to improve productivity, reduce weighing losses, and achieve “significant” labour savings.
A belt conveyor system provides for a small drop, making it possible to transfer fragile products to the bag that would normally be damaged by other scale systems, while an ergonomic L-shaped design maximises worker productivity with minimal footprint.
“The Yamato weigh scale and FAS SPrint Revolution complement each other extremely well,” says Chris Rempe, director of product management at Ohio, USA-headquartered Automated Packaging Systems.
“The individual components combine to create a high-quality solution capable of producing very accurate, fixed weight packages in a small footprint and at a reasonable cost.”
The Dataweigh scale is a tabletop unit with 12 weigh scales; six on each side of a central conveyor. With the filled SidePouch bags being indexed, sealed and delivered to a tote or takeaway conveyor, one or two operators can package up to 30 bags per minute.
Automated Packaging Systems manufactures its SidePouch bags, which are available in several different materials in a wide range of sizes, and with a variety of special features, such as reclosable zippers, resealable flaps, reinforced headers, easy-open perforations, and tamper-evident seals.
