Ipack-Ima will open its doors at Fiera Milano, Milan, from 28 February to 3 March 2012.
The show, which includes technology for processing, packaging and material handling, offers solutions for all food and non-food sectors.
The 2009 show attracted 1,400 exhibitors and the 54,000 visitors was an improvement of 4,000 on the previous show in 2006.
The 2012 exhibition and convention will focus on food sustainability and safety. A symposium is to be held in Africa this year dealing with issues linked to food security and food safety.
During Interpack, the organisers of Ipack-Ima presented details of the 2012 show. The UN’s food agencies, UNIDO and the World Food Programme (WFP), support Ipack-Ima, and Diana Battaggia, Head of UNIDO Itpo Italy, explained the Technology Innovation Award for Food Safety in Developing Countries, a scheme developed by UNIDO and WFP with the packaging industry. The awards, in different categories, will be handed out at Ipack-Ima in 2012.
