Hot melt hit

28 March 2011

Global adhesives business H.B. Fuller Company expects its new custom designed, proprietary adhesive technology to ‘transform’ hot melt performance in case and carton sealing and potentially reduce material costs.

The Advantra Encore platform is said to provide superior bonding, higher mileage and broader service temperature range, and can be used as a substitute for metallocene-based or EVA products.

It is designed for exceptional bonding on a broad range of challenging substrates including coated stocks and high recycled-content board.

An ‘aggressive’ hot tack means that it can grab and hold quickly to prevent pop-opens with high-memory board, offering the potential to switch to lower cost boards that are challenging to seal, says the company.

“The time is right for this entirely new, globally available technology platform that delivers superior performance to our packaging customers,” says Barry Snyder, chief technology officer of H B Fuller.
