Hoffmann increases tobacco market focus

21 January 2012

Premium tin and tube producer Hoffmann Neopac has announced it is to take over the cigarillo and cigarette tin business of CM Packaging in the Netherlands.

The Switzerland-based company has also signed a long-term manufacturing agreement with CMP in a transaction that increases Hoffmann’s focus on the tobacco market, by establishing a second production site within the European Zone and enlarging its production capacity for cigarillos and cigarette tins.

CMP will focus on and expand its core businesses in General Line metal packaging and injection moulded plastic packaging and reinforce its development of new projects. The company will end its activities within the market for metal packaging for cigarillos and cigarettes by the end of January 2012.

Hoffmann is a subsidiary of the Hoffmann Neopac group, domiciled in Thun, Switzerland. Hoffmann’s core business is the manufacturing of pocket packs and tins in metal and metal/plastic for the tobacco, confectionery, food and non-food industries.

Hoffmann Neopac employs more than 600 people. Roughly 85% of its production is exported, in particular to European customers but also the USA, Japan, Southeast Asia, India and China. In the USA the company works with a partner holding Hoffmann Neopac production licences.
