At Chinaplas 2014 (Shanghai, 23-26 April), Hubei Light Industry will demonstrate a 45 micron, 3-layer blown high clarity tissue overwrap film using ExxonMobil Chemical's Exceed and Enable metallocene polyethylene (mPE) resins.
A blend of 85% Exceed mPE 2018KB resin and 15% Enable mPE 20-05HH resin in the outer layers of the film "delivers outstanding toughness, impact and puncture resistance". Enable mPE 35-05HH resin in the core layer provides "an excellent combination of stiffness and toughness". High hot tack performance and low seal initiation temperatures can lead to excellent seal strength and low energy consumption. The film is also said to exhibit excellent optical properties for high clarity.
"The combination of ExxonMobil Chemical's metallocene polyethylene resins and our machinery technology offers a solution with excellent integrity that can provide significant downgauging opportunities," says Wang Yamin, general manager, Hubei Light Industry Machinery Co. "As a result, we can produce high clarity tissue overwrap films that meet the needs of customers by allowing low material use."
The 3-layer coextrusion line can be configured to an extrusion output of 250kg/hour and a maximum film winding width of 1,650mm.
