GEPET Summit to discuss Europe PET industry problems

21 May 2013

At the 14th GEPET Summit in Milan on 4-5 June 2013, keynote speakers will address industry concerns surrounding the region’s market, developments and trends amidst “sluggish performance” in the European PET market.

Event organiser CMT Events says the Greater European PET market is facing “one of the most challenging times”, with sales being driven down by global overcapacity, weak regional demand, competitive Asia PET prices and “thinning margins” from increasing production costs.

The opening address from David Swift, MD at PCI PET Packaging, Resin and Recycling Ltd, will accordingly give insight into the overall global PET landscape and the impacts overcapacity has and will continue to impose on the European PET trade.

Other headline speakers at the two-day event will include leading executives from Artenius, Mintel, PCI Xylenes & Polyesters, Gneuss Kunststofftechnik, OAO Sibur-PETF and GSI. Topics covered will range from developments in value-added PET Co-Polymers to MEG supply crunch, new PET processing opportunities, Russian PET market developments and anti-dumping legislations, new GSP system and capacities.

Key sessions on new developments in sustainability will include addresses by Coca-Cola, UFLEX and Lagam, while technological areas will be covered by speakers from ECO Plastics, PET Engineering, SIPA Spa, Avantium Chemicals BV, Evertis, KeyKeg Lightweight Containers, and Starlinger.
