GCS clean cut-off caps to Unilever’s taste

10 July 2013

Global Closure Systems has been awarded lead developer status by Unilever following the development of the new Clean Lock cap.

In order to meet Unilever’s specifications, GCS developed a headstand bi-injected transparent closure incorporating a silicon valve, in time for the early 2013 relaunch of a range of Unilever’s dressings and condiments brands including Amora, Colman’s and Hellmann’s.

According to GCS, the valve was designed to control and stop the flow of product so that the cap stays clean, providing a clean cut-off across the range of viscosities.

“Stability of the upside down bottle is achieved by the design of the transparent external areas,” GCS says.

“The clarity of the closure brings focus to the clean spout and highlights the cleanness of the cap, while the shape of the spout emphasizes control for the consumer.”

Global Closure Systems has also developed a live hinge, which springs the lid all the way open in order to allow a one-hand opening operation and to ensure the consumer has maximum clearance for dispensing.
