Fujifilm to showcase the 'power of inkjet' for label and packaging applications at Packaging Innovations 2015

Fujifilm will be showcasing the 'power of inkjet' for label & packaging applications at Packaging Innovations 2015 (NEC Birmingham, 25th - 26th February). The company will be showcasing how its leading roll-fed printer, the Acuity LED 1600, can produce packaging samples, how its inkjet solutions are starting to transform corrugated applications, and how, in partnership with FFEI, the Graphium hybrid digital label press can meet the needs of label converters looking to improve their business.

Acuity LED 1600
Fujifilm's Acuity LED 1600 is a large format hybrid inkjet printer which produces outstanding packaging prototypes, including applications distinguished by varnishing effects and spot colours. The printer achieves a productivity of up to 20m2 per hour and excellent image quality, supporting substrates up to 1,610mm in width and rigid sheet materials up to 13mm thick (including PET, acrylic, polycarbonate substrates and lightweight boards including mirror and fluted).

Another key feature of the Acuity LED 1600 is the inclusion of six ink colours, with the addition of white and clear ink as standard. The machine can apply these in a single pass to produce premium matt and high gloss finishes with a much higher efficiency than a conventional printer, where colours in conjunction with white and clear inks are applied in separate passes.

An integrated platform for the corrugated market
Fujifilm will be showcasing its integrated corrugated solution, which is a combination of the Inca Onset flatbed platform, Fujifilm's Uvijet inks dedicated to corrugated board applications, and an automated handling system.

Fujifilm's Uvijet digital inks offer vibrant colours, excellent cut and crease features, and a range of finishes from low glare satin to high impact gloss that can be used for all types of corrugated applications. The inks can be implemented on any of the high-end Inca Onset flatbed UV printers sold globally by Fujifilm. To complete its corrugated platform, Fujifilm has introduced advanced ¾ or fully automated handling systems that enable improved efficiency and productivity within a corrugated production environment.

Reduced time to market and print on demand capability are only a few of the benefits of using inkjet technology in the corrugated segment. At Packaging Innovations 2015, Fujifilm will highlight the advantages offered by its integrated solution and illustrate some packaging and display applications produced using this platform.

Graphium
The Graphium digital UV inkjet press, manufactured by FFEI and distributed by Fujifilm in the UK, has been developed for printers specialising in the labelling and packaging sectors who want to increase margins and revenue streams on their short to medium print runs.

Graphium is a modular digital UV inkjet press that allows printers to incorporate inline flexo print and finishing and undertake complex projects requiring a wide gamut of colours on most commonly used substrates. The press uses Fujifilm's Uvijet Graphium ink, developed specifically for label and packaging applications, which guarantees outstanding performance. For label converters, this means a consistent proof-to-press match, high-quality, vibrant printing and excellent adhesion, light fastness and durability. At the show, Fujifilm will be showcasing how this press can benefit a label converter, and the applications at which the hybrid inkjet press excels.
