FPH5 flowpacker ups tempo for confectionery

20 February 2012

Packaging machinery manufacturer Theegarten-Pactec has presented its latest horizontal flowpack machine, FPH5, for hard candies and other preformed products.

The new high-speed machine, on show for the first time at the ProSweets expo in Cologne at the end of January, can process up to 2,000 articles per minute, wrapping confectionery items in fin seal pillow packs.

The modular design of the FPH5, consisting of one basic machine and variable main components, means it can be tailor-made to the individual requirements of an individual customer, and can be easily retrofitted to adapt to any market changes.

The machine settings can also be reproduced following any format change, avoiding faulty products upon restart and keeping downtimes to a minimum.

“Customers perceived the soundness of the machine that wraps hard sugar boiled candies and other pre-formed articles as a guarantee of operational reliability,” ran a statement from the Dresden, Germany-based company following the ProSweets show. “The various application possibilities the modular construction offers met with a great deal of interest.”

The FPH5 processes all products suitable for being fed and separated via a plate. This includes filled and unfilled hard sugar boiled candies, sugar coated chewing gum or chocolate articles and toffee products.

It is also possible to process irregularly shaped items such as éclairs because the machine is able to cope with large tolerance values.

The dimension of the feeding plate is responsible for the high working cycle of Theegarten-Pactec models.

The plate is designed in such a way as to allow the fast distribution of products into the plate’s compartments using centrifugal force: a larger radius allows for more compartments.

With an export share of about 90 percent, Theegarten-Pactec is a fourth-generation family-run business with representatives in more than 50 countries.
