30 May 2013

A dairy company in Norway is the first to launch Tetra Pak’s bio-based HDPE LightCap 30 closure in combination with its Tetra Brik Aseptic Edge packs.

Leading dairy producer and distributor TINE will release its Piano vanilla sauce, TINE iced coffee, iced tea and chocolate milk in new packs featuring LightCap 30, which is produced from polyethylene derived from sugar cane ethanol.

“The development of the bio-based LightCap 30 is another important step towards our goal of producing a 100% renewable packaging solution,” says Tetra Pak product manager environmental innovation Erik Steijger.

“This launch demonstrates our continued commitment to environmental innovation and providing customers, retailers and consumers with the highest level of environmental performance for their packaging.”

One of the world’s leading packaging groups, Tetra Pak has a long history of responsible environmental practices and has embarked on an ambitious environmental programme designed to deliver on the company’s ultimate aim of providing fully sustainable packaging using only renewable materials, leaving a minimal environmental footprint and zero waste.
