FEBREZE AND TERRACYCLE LAUNCH THE AIR AND HOME CARE BRIGADE TO SAVE PREVIOUSLY NON RECYCLABLE WASTE FROM UK LANDFILL
Industry First Recycling Initiative celebrates by launching the Febreze Freshness Rewards Contest to find the UK's top recycler of Air and Home Care Packaging Waste - with £5,000 worth of charity prizes on offer
Febreze and TerraCycle are proud to announce the launch of the Air and Home Care Brigade - a new recycling fundraising initiative to enable consumers to recycle previously non-recyclable air and home care products and packaging for the first time. To celebrate the launch of this industry first initiative the Febreze Freshness Rewards Contest also launches - a six month collection contest and sweepstake to see who can save the most air and home care waste from UK landfill, with £5,000 worth of charity donations to be won.
About the Air and Home Care Brigade
Whilst air and home care products and packaging waste are technically recyclable, the high costs of recycling these hard to recycle mixed plastics, means the infrastructure to recycle the material isn't available across the UK. As a result this material needlessly ends up in UK landfill. This prompted Febreze and TerraCycle to join together to launch the Air and Home Care Brigade, a free recycling fundraising scheme which enables any individual or organisation in the UK to recycle plastic air fresheners and plug in refills, plus air and home care product trigger heads, pumps and caps and flexible home cleaning wipe packs of any brand.
Any interested individuals of organisations simply sign up for free to the Air and Home Care Brigade at www.terracycle.co.uk. Once registered, they can download freepost Royal Mail labels to send in their waste air and home care products and packaging for recycling. Participants simply collect any brand of plastic air fresheners and plug in refills, plus air and home care product trigger heads, pumps and caps and flexible home cleaning wipe packs of any brand, put them in a box or envelope, print the free post label from the website and then stick it onto the package and post it back to TerraCycle.
TerraCycle rewards participants with two TerraCycle points for the weight of every piece of air and home care waste sent in, with each point redeemable for a one pence contribution to the school, charity or non-profit of the senders' choice. The collected air and home care waste is then recycled into everyday products such as watering cans, garden benches and waste bins reducing the need to create new virgin plastic materials.
