Press Release - Association News June 2014

European BBQ Championship 2014 in Poland supported by Europe's aluminium industry

The European BBQ Championship will take place 20-21 June at the Charlotta Valley Resort and Spa on the Polish Baltic Sea coast and will be supported by the European aluminium industry.

About 12,000 visitors are expected to watch more than 30 BBQ teams from 15 European countries displaying their skills at the grill across the full range of BBQ disciplines. For all teams aluminium foil will be a major component in the preparation and creative barbecuing of the seven competition categories (home cooking from the homeland, fish, chicken, pork ribs, pork butt/shoulder, beef brisket and dessert).

The aluminium household foil especially produced for the event by foil roller Hydro and rewinding machine specialist Rotomac, as well as the sets of aluminium foil trays by Italian Alupack, will be essential tools used by the participants throughout the championship. An indispensable part of the barbecue experience, the practical, versatile and protective household foil, as well as the handy barbecue trays, will also be used by all teams to present their grilled food in the most attractive and innovative ways. In addition, visitors will have the chance to enjoy tasty samples provided by all competing teams.

The Polish recycling initiative RECAL will be present at the event to stress the need for a proper 'out-of-home' recycling of aluminium beverage cans.
Aluminium foil characteristics are strength, formability and barrier properties which have made it an essential part of many flexible packaging and container applications. Other uses of aluminium foil include automotive and heat exchange components, insulation material and many industrial applications.
