Euromap industry body updates plastics production recommendation

14 January 2014

Euromap, Europe’s association for plastics and rubber machinery manufacturers, has released its second recommendation relating to the energy efficiency of extrusion blow moulding machines.

The Euromap 46 recommendation follows publication in January 2013 of the revised Euromap 60 on the energy efficiency of injection moulding machines, the first results of which were shown at the ‘K’ show in October 2013.

Euromap 46 follows the basic concept of Euromap 60 in distinguishing between machine-related and product-related energy consumption.

Part 1 of the new recommendation therefore contains a classification of machinery using a defined test cycle, while Part 2 deals with the measuring methods used to determine the specific energy consumption of products according to customer demands.

“Energy efficiency is increasingly important for European plastics and rubber machinery manufacturers,” says Frankfurt-based Euromap.

“Euromap recommendations allow firms to communicate their performance data in this field simply and transparently.”

Customers can also use the information to make comparisons, the body advises.

Euromap is currently preparing further recommendations covering more types of machinery.

Covering a European industry with almost 3,700 companies and a combined annual turnover of more than €17 billion, Euromap includes national associations from the plastics and rubber machinery manufacturing industries in Austria, France, Germany, Italy, Luxembourg, Spain, Switzerland, Turkey and the UK.
