Ensuring heat seal integrity

14 January 2011

Sensor Products has produced a video that shows how its Tactilus dynamic pressure-mapping system reveals contact pressure variations in real-time at the sealing surface that can compromise packaging integrity.

The Tactilus system consists of a thin sensor pad that is placed between the dies of contacting heat sealing platens and jaws, or at the nip of converting rollers. Accompanying Windows-based software enables engineers to quickly view colour coded pressure images and data transmitted from the sensor pad. Pressure can then be adjusted in real-time until the instantaneous updated images and data confirm uniform pressure has been reached.
