Edelmann to mark 100 year anniversary

15 May 2013

Paper and board packaging specialist Edelmann is celebrating its 100th anniversary in June 2013.

Developing and producing folding cartons, leaflets and system solutions at 12 locations worldwide, the family owned company, headquartered in Heidenheim, Germany, has in its history created packaging for most major brands in the healthcare and beauty care segments internationally.

Looking forward to Edelmann’s next century, managing director Dierk Schröder says further international growth is “not to be ruled out” for the company.

“We want to be able to respond even more effectively to the individual needs of our customers,” he says.

“The efforts of global brand manufacturers and thus the international nature of the packaging business will continue to develop in the future thanks to dynamic consumer development in new growth markets, predominantly in the ASEAN countries.”

The company is set for expansion in its range of system solutions, notably in the health and beauty care segments, as well as in premium segments such as confectionery.

In addition to its folding cartons and leaflets, Edelmann customers can obtain liners, product add-ons and plastic inserts from a single source.

Founded in 1913 when Carl Edelmann bought a stone printing workshop in Heidenheim, in 1924 the company began producing folding cartons for the branded goods that were rising to prominence at the time.

In 2012, Edelmann’s 1,900 employees generated revenues of €233 million, of which about 52% was accounted for by the family company’s international sites.
