Entitled ‘Quality at its Best – Advancing Flexography in Africa’, a flexographic printing seminar held recently in Nairobi, Kenya by DuPont Packaging Graphics was the second in a series to be held around the continent.
The US-based flexo group presented the Nairobi seminar in conjunction with major flexo industry associates including Tesa, Esko, Chespa, and Windmöller & Hölscher.
Attended by representatives of the entire value chain, from pre-press to press, from more than 20 companies in the growing Eastern Africa region, the seminar featured the use of DuPont’s Cyrel flexographic systems, in order to demonstrate its “reliability in the entire workflow, including in the final printed product”.
Hans-Peter Hormann, business development manager DuPont Cyrel EMEA, said: “Eastern Africa is one of the fastest growing regions in the world where there is a significant increase in demand for sustainable packaging solutions, and a higher expectation of quality.
“Flexographic printing is delivering sustainability, productivity and quality to help packaging printers address these needs.
“We are encouraged by the growing number of attendees in this series of seminars. We estimate that more than 250 attendees from Nigeria, Tanzania, and Kenya have gained important insights from these seminars to date.”
DuPont Packaging Graphics aims to strengthen its regional contact network through the African DuPont organisation, and through specialised dealers in the region.
Joachim Siekiera, board chairman of Poland-based Chespa, added: “We see a great benefit for us, but also for the flexo market in Africa, to show effective printing solutions from pre-press, substrates, inks, flexo-plates to flexo presses, that are cast in one pour. This is really a great opportunity – the demand is huge!”
