Dow at Interpack

Dow's presence at Interpack focused on the theme, "Make it. Use it. Save it." showcases their ability to help make lighter, stronger, more cost effective packaging, and focus on solutions to save natural resources, reduce food waste, and contribute to a more sustainable environment.

Dow exhibited a number of recent technologies and innovations including:

1) PacXpert Packaging Technology: a new technology that allows transition from traditional rigid containers to flexible packaging pouches between 2-20 liters in size. The newdesign ships and stores flat and is easy to transport. Once filled it allows for easy pour and high product yield.

2) ELITE Advanced Technology 6401 Enhanced Polyethylene: A new addition for packaging applications including liquid detergents, pet food, milk and oil allowing packs to be sealed quicker with higher seal integrity.

3) MOR-FREE Low Monomer adhesives: new solventless laminating adhesives offering faster PAA/NCO decay to meet food legislation requirements quicker, keep a safer work environment and improve converting efficiency and cost.

"Whether we are looking to address the needs of a converter, brand owner or consumer, we know that packaging products need to be smart; from manufacturing, to use, to end-of-life," explains Marc van den Biggelaar, marketing director for Food and Specialty Packaging and Adhesives. "Accordingly Dow uniquely offers a broad portfolio of resins, adhesives, binders and coatings for flexible and rigid primary, secondary and tertiary packaging to address the evolving needs of our customers," van den Biggelaar added.

Dow will also be present at the SAVE FOOD Congress and Forum sharing ideas to help solve the global challenge of food shortage and waste.

"At Dow we see ourselves at the heart of packaging", explains Dana Mosora, value chain and sustainability leader. "Our global footprint with manufacturing facilities across the world and commitment to investing in R&D helps us deliver high-class technologies to support the evolving needs of our customers".

A platform for value chain collaboration

Aside from a broad portfolio, Dow also understands the importance of close collaboration among value chain players in developing adequate packaging solutions. A key platform for this is Pack Studios, a global network of labs, experts and collaboration tools that addresses the acceleration of packaging innovation for Dow customers and value chain members. There are currently four Pack Studio technology centers in the US, Brazil, China and the latest one opened in Switzerland this month. Each center has dedicated spaces to inspire innovation, laboratory facilities for material structure development, and fabrication and application testing equipment to validate packaging solutions.
