Double Win for O-I at UK Packaging Awards

Lux Black Label and Teacher’s Scotch whisky win Best Glass categories

The new designs for Lux Vodka Black Label and Teacher’s Scotch whisky have been named best glass packs at the 2016 UK Packaging Awards. Lux won the premium glass pack category while Teacher’s won the everyday category.

The Awards are seen as an honour  in the UK packaging sector.  The winning packs are both manufactured by O-I, the world’s leading glass packaging company.

Lux Vodka Black Label is an authentic British ultra-premium vodka, distilled and bottled on the Copped Hall Estate in Essex, using only the finest British ingredients. The judges said, “The objective was certainly achieved with this aesthetically pleasing and tactile luxury packaging triumph. To produce something that oozes luxury yet remains 100% recyclable is a great achievement. A beautifully shaped stand out masterpiece.”

The Teacher’s bottle utilises Narrow Neck Press and Blow technology allowing for a significant weight reduction while maintaining a premium look and well defined embossing. Commenting on the pack, the judges said, “This is a fine example of why detail matters. Lightweighting, design and manufacturing all play a part in delivering a perfect piece of packaging for everyday.”

The UK Packaging Awards prides itself on the level of expertise of its judging panel which features heads of packaging and senior packaging experts from a wide range of household-name brands and retailers, as well as consumer research, finance and business experts.
