The opening of a new state-of-the-art leaflet production facility in Germany is the latest step in an ongoing investment programme by Contego Packaging, a leading pan-European supplier of cartons, leaflets, labels and foil for the pharmaceutical industry.
Following its acquisition by Platinum Equity in 2011, Contego has invested in a new 6,200sqm factory in Wolfen, to the south-west of Berlin, to replace its existing facility.
The company says it has installed the latest printing and folding technology at the new facility, including a 4-Colour Heidelberg Speedmaster Printing machine fitted with a Cutstar, while a new guillotine and outsert line have also been installed to increase finishing capacity.
Tom Reid, CEO Contego Packaging Group, says: “Not only does the layout enable a more efficient workflow, it also means we can continue to comply with Good Manufacturing Practice and allows for planned future growth.”
All Contego staff have now transferred to the new site and the company anticipates that a number of new jobs will be created over the next 12 months.
