Clondalkin bolsters booklet-label manufacturing in Ireland

23 April 2013

Pharma & Healthcare packaging specialist Clondalkin Group has invested in a Prati Vegaplus booklet-label machine at its site in Glasnevin, near Dublin, Ireland.

The increased capacity is said to enable shorter lead times and greater reliability for its international customer base in the clinical trials sector, as well as strengthening Clondalkin’s offer of exacting compliance and quality performance across multiple study profiles.

To maximise the investment potential of the Vegaplus system, the US-headquartered company has also installed two complete finishing lines, fully equipped with inline ink jet coding and full vision inspection, bringing the Glasnevin site’s total number of inspection units up to four.

Producing booklets of up to 64 page counts, the equipment features an in-line lamination unit with register control, enabling the application of Braille in register to the outer laminate.

In addition, the Vega incorporates a hot melt coating unit and Pharma Code scanning. Barry Marron, site director at Clondalkin Pharma & Healthcare Glasnevin, says: “Each booklet-label we manufacture for our clinical trial customers will undergo up to 15 separate checks as part of our uncompromising quality and processes.

“Our site is extensively equipped in all stages of the print and production processes from origination and print through to conversion and delivery, and this investment represents our continued commitment to improve our processes, expand our capabilities and increase our flexibility.”

Clondalkin Pharma & Healthcare Glasnevin is an internationally recognised supplier of specialist self-adhesive labelling and digital booklet solutions to the leading pharmaceutical, healthcare, medical device and clinical trial companies in Ireland and across Europe.
