Clearer, lighter packaging

2 June 2011

Priplak has launched its new 'clearest ever' packaging grade of polypropylene able to offer a 35% weight saving in a 100% recyclable product. Supercristal+ can cut cost and waste for packaging users, says the French extrusion company."

The ‘strong, lightweight and flexible’ PP substrate can be used to reduce overall pack size by using the material as a wrap or sleeve, to give ‘substantial’ savings, adds Priplak.

“With Priplak Supercristal+ we’ve produced a gloss clear material which is 35% lighter than equivalent grades of PET and PVC,” says Priplak’s Marketing Director Simon Lewis.

"Since the launch of the new Supercristal+ grade brand owners, retailers and packaging specifiers have been considering Priplak polypropylene for new projects in favour of the alternatives.

“The overwhelming reaction to the new promotional tool has been ‘wow, we didn't realise how far polypropylene had developed’. The 35% weight saving compared with older plastics has also been noticed, with retailers and brand owners insisting in several cases that their packaging suppliers mock up ideas in Priplak Supercristal+.

The environmental aspects of polypropylene have also been well received, not only the weight savings and recyclability, but also the R100 range of 100% recycled PP and also the reduced carbon footprint of PP," says Mr Lewis.
