Cermex achieves 100-machine landmark in China

29 November 2011

Early 2012 will see the delivery of the 100th machine to be assembled at the Beijing plant of Cermex, the Sidel Group subsidiary specialising in secondary packaging and palletizing.

Cermex set up a local presence in Beijing near to Sidel’s plant in 2008, with the aim of exploiting growth in the Chinese market by local assembly of a seamless shrink wrapping solution and a layer by layer palletizing unit, adapted to high-speed beverage bottling lines.

Having made customer proximity one of its major strengths, the company also established an extensive and experienced technical support team based locally in order to serve the group’s Chinese customers as quickly as possible.

The company now has 75 employees in China, and the steady growth of orders for the Chinese plant is reflected in its sales figures, with turnover increasing tenfold between 2008 and 2010.

The proximity to Sidel’s plant has also enabled the companies to share resources and capacities in order to benefit from maximum flexibility during ramp-up.

Alongside the shrink-wrappers and palletizers in Beijing, Cermex also produces a side-loading solution for the food, cosmetics and pharmaceuticals markets.

In 40 years, Cermex has become one of the leaders in end of line packaging machinery, with complete solutions for case packing, shrink-wrapping and palletizing fast-moving consumer goods.

Since 1996, Cermex has been a subsidiary of Sidel, world leader in solutions for packaging liquid food, and a division of the Swedish group, Tetra Laval.

Cermex is a technical, economic and ecological leader in end of line packing and palletizing machinery, including turnkey lines, and in the development of this machinery in selected strategic fields.
