Campari targets Australia with contract packer Copack acquisition

8 July 2013

Italy-based drinks group Gruppo Campari has acquired leading Australian contract beverage packer Copack, in a deal said to be worth AUD 20 million (approximately €14.2 million).

Specialising in can and glass packaging, Copack is currently used by Gruppo Campari for ready-to-drink beverage sourcing, and the deal means Campari will now have its own in-house manufacturing facilities for the key Australian market.

A Gruppo Campari statement said: “This acquisition further strengthens the company’s international supply chain capabilities, whilst adding flexibility to the local organisation, heightening quality control and further supporting innovation capabilities.

“Moreover, it provides the Group with an opportunity to support the company’s future growth in the Asia-Pacific region.”

Copack was established in Melbourne in 2007, and since 2010 it has been the supplier for Campari’s Wild Turkey RTDs in Australia.
