Bosch to unveil KKX 3900 pharma capsules x-ray inspection unit

28 April 2012

Bosch Packaging Technology will introduce its new x-ray technology-based KKX 3900 inspection unit for filled hard capsules at the Achema show in Frankfurt, Germany in June.

The KKX 3900 machine can be installed after any capsule filling machine and achieves an output of up to 220,000 capsules per hour. Weight identification, foreign particles detection, length measurement and deformation recognition is completed in only one process step.

In addition to a 100% inline weight control, digital image evaluation is provided by an associated sensor for image creation, with real-time identification of process relevant data.

Capsules that are not in line with desired requirements are discharged individually, yielding a higher output, while the real-time image evaluation resists vibration, air flow and dampness.

The company says the combination of four measurement systems in one compact unit with minimal interference leads to reduced space requirements as well as lower costs, and allows for “significant increase in productivity”.

Based in Waiblingen, Germany, the Bosch Packaging Technology division is one of the leading suppliers in the field of processing and packaging technology, developing and producing complete solutions for the pharmaceutical, food and confectionery industries in more than 15 countries worldwide.
