Bosch MLF 5008 launch extends vial filling and closing options

25 March 2013

Bosch Packaging Technology has extended it MLF series with the launch of the MLF 5008 filling and closing machine.

With its new, slim design, the MLF 5008 is said to offer a high output of ‘up to 400 vials per minute’ at the same time as integrated 100% in-process control (IPC).

Suited to processing pharmaceuticals in aqueous and low-viscosity solutions, the new machine is able to fill and close injection bottles in a processing range of 2-100ml.

“The new MLF 5088 demonstrates that high output is not opposed to best safety standards,” says Bosch Packaging Technology product manager Dieter Bandtel.

All vials are weighed directly before and after the filling station.

By comparing both measurements, the absolute filling weight is determined, and the machine automatically adjusts the volume in case of deviating quantities.

According to Bosch, the slim design of the MLF 5008 allows easy access from the front, including the safe insertion of pumps at the filling stations, and leading to “improved handling”.

A new patent pending method places containers very gently on the IPC scales, while a combined filling station with eight dosing heads enables the machine to work either with piston, peristaltic or rolling diaphragm pumps, or a time-pressure filling system, thereby, the company claims, covering “up to 99%” of all filling systems in use for pharmaceutical machines.
