Biopac cups make green credentials clear

20 February 2012

Targeting coffee outlets wanting to demonstrate their commitment to the environment, UK-based environmental packaging specialist Biopac has launched its ‘I’m a green cup’.

A sister product to Biopac’s ‘I’m not a plastic cup’, launched in 2011, ‘I’m a green cup’ is made from certified FSC board lined with a starch material, and is said to be “100% compostable”, certified to European standard EN13432.

The cups are available in 8oz and 12oz sizes and there is also a fully compostable sip-through lid to fit each size. The cups are packed in quantities of 1000.

Biopac director Mark Brigden says: “We wanted to design a compostable hot cup which would help our clients give a clear message about their commitment to the environment. The bold printed graphics help to achieve this.”

Whilst the new cup’s graphics are standard, Biopac also offers a bespoke design service for companies wishing to have their logo printed.

Formed in 2002 and based in Pershore, Worcestershire, Biopac claims to be the leading UK developer and supplier of environmentally responsible packaging and catering disposables, with clients including Hard Rock Café, KFC, Urban Pie and Vestey Foods.
