Biggest-ever metal packaging technology show to be held in China

Cannex & Fillex Asia-Pacific will be the biggest-ever international canmaking and filling technology show held in Asia when it opens in China from 1-4 June 2015.

The third Cannex & Fillex to be held in Guangzhou has attracted more than 190 exhibitors from more than 20 countries, with more companies continuing to sign up in the weeks before the show. Delegates from more 35 countries have already registered to attend.

Organised by SPG Events and backed by The Canmaker magazine, the show is specifically targeted at can manufacturers and fillers. Visitors will be able to see the latest technologies and services that support a global business which produces almost 500 billion cans a year for customers in the beverage, food, personal care and industrial sectors.

The success of Cannex & Fillex reflects a growing domestic market for metal packaging of all kinds. Despite concerns that the expansion of China's economy has been slowing, the country offers huge opportunities for the canmaking industry.

This was highlighted at The Canmaker Summit in Hong Kong last October, where delegates learned that with China's current yearly additional trade of US$950 billion it means that even on the lowest projected growth figures it will soon outstrip all other national markets, including the US.

Speaking at the Summit, Liang Zhongkang, president of the China Canned Food Industry Association, told how the growth in the domestic canmaking industry is driving demand for world-class technologies of the types that are on show at Cannex & Fillex.

Since the first Cannex & Fillex made its debut more than 20 years ago, it has been a showcase for the latest canmaking and filling technologies, and this year will be no exception.

Leading canmaking equipment manufacturer Stolle Machinery based in the US will be showing new process systems in China that include the Saber D&I can trimmer, a D&I bodymaker ram guidance system and a ten-head rotary end liner.

From Germany, KBA-MetalPrint will use Cannex & Fillex to launch its latest MetalStar 3 decorating press and 380 coater. Also based in Germany, press manufacturer Schuler will use Cannex & Fillex for the global launch of its new turnkey service for building D&I beverage can lines in collaboration with Japan's Universal Can Corporation.

Applied Vision, the US-based specialist in vision quality monitoring systems, will show its Solaar sheet inspection equipment for the first time. Also from the US, coatings giant PPG Packaging Coatings will show its latest 'next generation' lacquers for use on both steel and aluminium cans.

China-based SLAC Precision Equipment will be launching globally at Cannex & Fillex a new range of equipment for D&I beverage can manufacturing, including a bodymaker, trimmer and inside-spray machine.
