BETTY'S TEA ROOMS CADDY TAKES 2015 'BEST IN METAL' TITLE

Crown Aerosols and Speciality Packaging has won the coveted annual MPMA Best in Metal Award for its highly decorated souvenir tea caddy for Yorkshire café chain, Betty's Tea Rooms.

The 'Best in Metal' winner is selected from MPMA member companies shortlisted in the annual UK Packaging Awards and, according to MPMA director, Nick Mullen, Crown's entry showcases why speciality tins remain so popular with brands and consumers alike:

"The distinctive design of this tin mirrors the brand's creative personality; traditional elegance with modern convenience. The pack has instantly desirable shelf appeal; is beautifully tactile with its soft matt varnish creating a rich satin feel. This is a genuine keepsake, reflecting the reuse value of attractive, brand reinforcing packaging," he said.

"Betty's and Crown are to be congratulated, deserving of this year's Best in Metal award; a wonderful example in bringing together classical charm in a reusable pack which ultimately can be recycled forever."

The tin features exclusive designs by Yorkshire artist, Emily Sutton, and presents a pavement view into the first Betty's Tea Room which opened in 1919. Drawings depict ladies, families and friends taking tea and enjoying the café's fare, while embellished patterns and designs influenced by the Yorkshire surroundings add to the tin's visual appeal.

David Harrison, Vice President, Crown Aerosols and Speciality Packaging was presented with the Best in Metal award by MPMA acting chairman, Robert Fell, at the Association's annual dinner held at Drapers' Livery Hall in the City of London, on 6 November, 2015.
