Benson Group acquisition furthers Graphic Packaging plans in Europe

20 February 2014

Graphic Packaging International has announced an agreement to acquire Benson Group, a leading food and healthcare packaging company based in the UK.

According to Graphic Packaging, a leading provider of packaging solutions to the food, beverage and other consumer markets, the addition of Benson Group further strengthens its growing position in the European printed folding carton market.

Benson Group’s position in the growing convenience/retail market particularly will complement Graphic Packaging’s existing strengths in the consumer and beverage markets, the company says.

“This is a fantastic opportunity for Benson Group to become part of Graphic Packaging’s ambitious growth plans for Europe,” says Benson Group managing director Mark Kerridge.

“Graphic’s excellence in operations partnered with Benson Group’s success through unrivalled customer service will be a great combination. We are looking forward to working within an enlarged European business to deliver the benefits of both to our customers and achieve further success.”

In September 2013, US-headquartered Graphic Packaging International joined Supplier Connection, a consortium of Fortune 500 corporations, mid-market firms, and other enterprises aimed at driving small business growth by simplifying access to their combined supply chains.

The company is one of the largest producers of folding cartons and holds a leading position in coated-unbleached kraft, coated-recycled board, bag and speciality packaging.
