BASF's Formulation Additives business launched sustainability initiative
BASF's formulation additives business has recently launched a sustainability initiative and a brief overview follows:
- As a raw material producer, BASF's formulation additives is committed to helping the paints/coatings manufacturers enhance their performance which can have a positive impact on the sustainability of the entire life cycle. Taking the whole value chain into consideration, we offer products which can bring improvements to the sustainability in the areas of production, application and service life.
- Reflecting this commitment, we have recently launched a sustainability initiative called "Every Little Helper Contributes." This highlights how formulation additives which just make up a tiny fraction of the final formulation are supporting the development of sustainable paints and coatings
- Meeting the growing demand for more environmentally compatible products from the paints and coatings industry, these "little helpers" contribute along the coatings value chain by lowering energy consumption, enhancing functionality/lifetime of the coatings and conserving resources in the final phase of the value chain.
- Identifying the key drivers and issues within the industries that we serve, BASF's Formulation Additives has assessed the sustainability contribution of our products in a specific application. In the attached sustainability quick guide, you can find which of our products, be it dispersing agents, defoamers, rheology modifiers or wetting agents/surface modifiers have sustainable features such as durability, reduced emissions and resource efficiency.
- Sustainability is at the heart of our business. We are constantly searching for new, innovative ways to enhance our own offering and work with our customers to develop more sustainable formulations.
