Barry-Wehmiller acquires Paris FFS firm Arcil

12 December 2013

Arcil SA, a Paris-based supplier of packaging technology for the fresh dairy and food industry, has been acquired by US-based Barry-Wehmiller Companies.

Arcil is a leading global company in Form-Fill-Seal (FFS) technology.

Its machines use heat to convert plastic film into custom-formed cups that are filled then sealed within integrated, cost-effective lines.

The acquisition, Barry-Wehmiller’s first within France, expands the American firm’s packaging platform to six separate operating companies, and escalates the capital equipment and engineering consulting firm’s reach within the growing global yogurt industry.

With revenue equivalent to US$120 million this year, Arcil employs approximately 350 people between its two Paris operations.

Bob Chapman, Barry-Wehmiller CEO, said: “Arcil’s technological leadership and leading market position extend our capabilities in the global fresh dairy market.

“We are pleased to bring our people-centric leadership practices to our new team members.” Arcil machines can be found in more than 40 countries worldwide.
