BAMA, the British Aerosol Manufacturers’ Association, has advised the annual meeting of its Retail Liaison Group on the introduction of the first phase of the Aerosol Dispenser Directive 2013/10/EU amends Directive 75/324/EEC, which comes into force on 19 March 2014.
Consisting of technical representatives from many of the UK’s major retailers, the BAMA Retail Liaison Group is one of few such services offered by technical trade associations to retailers in the UK.
According to BAMA, the network enables retailers to be informed by experts in the aerosol sector of new regulatory changes and to discuss any concerns they may have.
“This year’s meeting highlighted topics that are of strong interest to retailers including counterfeiting, Aerosol Dispenser Directive (ADD), The European Regulation on classification, labelling and packaging of substances and mixtures (CLP) including labelling changes plus guidance on warehousing & handling requirements,” BAMA says.
Aligning with CLP, the Aerosol Dispenser Directive 2013/10/EU amends Directive 75/324/EEC will come into force gradually up to June 2017.
At the 2013 meeting, retailers were also advised that new CLP guidance has been published to help companies manage the transition to the new CLP labelling system.
