Personal care and beauty company Pierre Fabre Laboratories has launched a new 200ml emollient care product, Exomega, under it’s A-derma brand, using ‘Cosmétique Stérile’ D.E.F.I. technology from plastics packaging specialist Promens.
The airtight D.E.F.I. (Exclusive Device for Intact Formula) closure system, developed by Promens in partnership with Pierre Fabre Laboratories, removes the need for bag-in-bottle technology in sensitive formula applications.
Manufactured under a sterile process for both packaging and formula, filling of products in aseptic conditions ensures a complete absence of bacteria, virus or fungus, the company says.
“The D.E.F.I. closure system is completely airtight, with no air intake, and prevents any contamination of the formula before and during the product use,” the company says.
“The cap consists of four parts, including a supple membrane which rises when pressure is applied to the tube and later resumes its position when pressure is released.”
The high-precision parts are manufactured to one-hundredth of a millimeter, and provide “flawless cohesion with the entire unit”. The lid fits perfectly to the cap with no gaps, and is closed with a tamper-proof clip, removed when the tube is first opened.
