BAD Co.’s growth continues thanks to a ‘Can’-do attitude

North Yorkshire-based BAD Co. continues to go from strength to strength as it adds another dimension to its super-innovative brewery; adding cans to its line-up of bottles, kegs and casks.

BAD Co.’s entire core range is now also available in cans that feature topless lids for 360 degree drinking. This means that rather than cracking a hole in the top of the can through a traditional ring-pull device, drinkers can peel off the entire top of the can to enjoy the contents in all its hoppy glory, as if supping from a regular cup. This brings with it a whole host of drinker benefits - no need for glassware when out of the home, no awkward and unnecessary mid-drink spillage mishaps caused by a misalignment between drinking hole and mouth, and more importantly, the beer can be enjoyed as the brewers intended – full of sense-tantalising flavour and aroma that hits the drinker as soon as the top is pulled off.

Paul Holden-Ridgway, head brewer at BAD Co. explains:

“Cans used to have a poor reputation in the UK but that’s changed – people are now realising they are one of the best ways to prevent contamination, retain carbonation and ensure you are drinking every beer as the brewer intended it. Since BAD Co. is 100% committed to delivering on taste and ensuring that the drinking experience is at its optimum – we want to offer our product in the receptacle where the contents will taste at their best. It’s simple really – and early noises from our lucky bunch of drink samplers are saying the new canned beers taste great!”

UV light and oxygen are both damaging to beer and can drastically alter the flavour of the end product; canning ensures that this is no longer a problem. Beer out of a modern can tastes exactly as it should, no sourness or, even worse, ‘tinny’ taste.

Flavour and condition preservation aside, cans also have the great advantage for drinking BAD Co. products on the go. Whether drinkers are heading to a BBQ, picnic or simply carrying a few beers following purchase, cans have a huge weight advantage compared to bottles and are therefore much easier to enjoy on the move. Compared with their glass counterparts, cans also cool down very rapidly, making the long wait for adequately chilled beer a thing of the past.

Alongside the new cans’ premium soft-feel design, BAD Co. is one of only a few breweries in the UK to utilise the innovative 360 degree lid, marking a continued movement to ensure that their craft and artisan beers are at the pinnacle of technological innovation.  The brewery is proudly leading the charge on the changing face of the progressive beer movement and the team there exercise this pioneering approach across the entire operation – from production methods, to sourcing ingredients, right through to packaging design.

Whilst the cans feature a new format, they remain 100% recyclable meaning BAD Co. can continue to offer innovative products whilst keeping up with the increasing levels of sustainability credentials demanded by a 21st century craft beer marketplace.

The new cans join BAD Co.’s already-impressive range of beer containers, including cask, nitro keg and printed glass bottles, enabling the brewery to offer beer in a variety of premium formats for any occasion.

Along with the new canning plant, BAD Co. has also recently doubled its product portfolio, installed a new bottling facility capable of filling 2,800 bottles per hour, and is about to launch a brand new e-commerce website in order to supply the ever increasing demand for its award-winning beers.
