Metal and glass packaging company Ardagh Group has launched a 750ml RinGo paint tin, with a design that requires less packaging material and also enables the user to drain the whole content.
Already available in a 2.5-litre size for wall paints, the new 750ml size is intended for trim paints, and is said to be “20 percent lighter than the standard pack”.
Ardagh’s design team has re-engineered the 750ml tin with a necked-in top, as
opposed to the straight wall design of a conventional can, reducing the lid diameter and, in turn, material usage. The bottom of the can is also necked-in, permitting the use of a smaller end component.
The tins are opened with a simple twisting action of a screwdriver at the opening indents, while the ring-free opening enables all the content to be poured out, with no wasted paint caught under the ring.
As well as being fully recyclable, RinGo can be used on existing filling lines, and can be specified by manufacturers and packers without incurring additional processing costs, running at the same filling line speeds.
Paint manufacturer Craig & Rose already uses the 2.5-litre RinGo can for its premium paints range and plans to take on the 750ml size. “Easy to open and close, with a significant reduction in weight, it makes life easier for our customers and consolidates our reputation for providing sustainable solutions,” says Stephen Percy-Robb, Craig & Rose managing director.
