Luxembourg-based brewer Bofferding is marking its 250th anniversary in 2014 with the launch of its first beer in a customised glass bottle, provided by Ardagh Group.
Already launched in the local market, the distinctively shaped 33cl bottle design made for the Bofferding Pils line features intricate full-body engraving with the brewery’s shield device and famed ‘B’ logo.
According to Ardagh Group, the weight of the bottle, manufactured at the company’s Bad Münder plant in Germany, has been kept down to 205g.
“Consumer research showed that our customers would favour glass packaging for this particular range of beers,” says Bofferding marketing director Thierry Krombach.
“And the creation of a distinctive shape and styling has proved very successful in the market.”
Now claiming to be the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg’s leading brewery, the Brasserie Nationale Bofferding is the result of a merger between two family-owned breweries, with the oldest one established in Luxembourg in 1764.
