Arctic Paper targets packaging with AP-Tec product family launch

21 October 2013

Arctic Paper Grycksbo has introduced a new portfolio of coated paper products for packaging applications under the AP-Tec banner, consisting of three products: AP-Tec Liner, AP-Tec Pack and AP-Tec Flex.

According to the Sweden-based company, AP-Tec features high bulk and excellent printability, achieved thanks to Arctic Paper Grycksbo’s coating technology.

The specialist paper group has identified a number of packaging segments and developed products specifically to target them.

A coated, fully bleached liner with high whiteness, especially suited for preprint and lamination on corrugated board, AP-Tec Liner is said to be particularly suited for brands requiring advanced print, high whiteness and finish to give the product the right image.

AP-Tec Pack is a double-sided, coated solid board in high whiteness, particularly aimed at smaller packaging where print quality, runnability and cost efficiency are crucial.

And AP-Tec Flex is a coated packaging paper in high whiteness, especially suited for extrusion, lamination and flexible packaging.

“All of our AP-Tec products are manufactured from virgin fibres, which for many applications have a clear advantage compared with recycled products,” says Arctic Paper Grycksbo product manager Jaana Ahlroos.

“Arctic Paper Grycksbo has a good environmental track record – fossil emissions of CO² are now down to zero and the mill has very low water consumption.”

Historically, Arctic Paper Grycksbo’s paper products have been used successfully outside the traditional graphics market, in niches such as exclusive bags, but the launch of the AP-Tec programme represents a “strengthened commitment by the company towards the packaging market", according to the company.
