AKW Group’s contract packing division achieved record volumes in 2013, packing more than 17.5 million units for leading brands including L’Oréal, Unilever and Boots, and increasing its turnover by £244,000.
According to the Manchester-based company, a major area of growth has been Christmas gift sets: in 2013 the firm created a dedicated 30,000 square-foot Christmas gift set assembly area at its facility in Trafford Park, which packed over 8.8 million products between July and November.
“We have significantly invested in expanding our operations in recent years to ensure we offer a flexible service to meet our customers’ requirements,” says Rebecca Davies, who heads up the contract packing division at AKW Group.
“This focus on customer service has enabled us to increase our client base and work in partnership with some of the top blue chip retail businesses in the country.”
AKW Group’s contract packing service offers a range of specialist product packing options including steam sleeving, gift sets, shelf ready packaging, shrink wrapping, retail pallet displays and labelling.
The positive figures for 2013 ensure that AKW’s plans to achieve a group turnover of £25 million in the next four years remain “on track”.
