Adnams unveils "refreshing" new look for the world's best gin

Adnams, the Suffolk-based brewer and distiller, has revealed a new and updated bottle design for its Copper House Gin. The gin, which was awarded the prestigious Gin Trophy at the 2013 International Wine and Spirit Competition (IWSC), is the first spirit to receive a make over since the Adnams began distilling less than five years ago.

Since opening its Copper House Distillery in November 2010, the Copper House range of spirits, which includes Adnams' award-winning gin and Barley Vodka, has been central to the distiller's wider selection of spirits.

The gin now has a bold new coloured design complete with seagulls to echo the spirit's coastal provenance and the character of Adnams. Now named the Copper House Dry Gin, to reflect the spirit's fresh flavours and aromas, the brand new bottles are already appearing on shelves and a new label for the barley vodka will be revealed early next month.

Created by CookChick Design, the new design is screen-printed on to the bottles, which creates a bolder, brighter and lighter image. The bottles feature a hand-drawn illustration of the distillery's copper still, together with some of the gin's key botanical ingredients, to convey the hand-crafted, artisanal nature of the spirit's production.

Designer Lee Cook from CookChick Design explains, "When we created the Copper House range of spirit labels five years ago, Adnams was entering quite a traditional market so our designs were rather reserved and smart. However, things have moved on hugely since then, and now that Adnams' spirits are so firmly established, it's time to portray more of the unique Adnams character of these small-batch spirits. One of the most important stories for us to get across is that each Adnams Copper House spirit is made from grain to glass. That's an attribute that most distillers do not have - the ability to make a spirit from start to finish - from the locally-sourced malted grains all the way through to the finished products, just as Adnams makes its beers."

Adnams Marketing Director, Emma Hibbert comments, "Adnams spirits continue to be a terrific success story. As soon as we began distilling in Southwold, less than five years ago, our spirits have proved very popular with our customers and have picked up many international awards. The market for craft distilling continues to grow and develop and we felt it time to adapt our packaging to reflect these changes. The new design is not only fresher and more modern, it has superb standout on shelf and in bar. Both Adnams gin fans and those who have not tried our spirits before have given the new look a resounding approval."
