In time for the UEFA European football championship finals in June, Germany-based snack manufacturer Intersnack is to release a novel ‘First Half-Second Half’ twin-pack for its Chipsfrisch savoury snacks brand.
The First Half-Second Half (Erste Halbziet-Zweite Halbziet in German) packs consist of two separate 90g packs joined together with a perforated seal. Pricing will be at the same level as the standard Chipsfrisch 175g pack (rrp €1.89).
Set for launch in May 2012, Intersnack is targeting increased promotions and secondary placements around the time of the EUFA Euro finals.
“We have had very positive customer feedback so far,” says Intersnack marketing director Claudia Studtmann. “They are telling us this is really something new.”
The company quotes Nielsen Market Track data from October 2010 that shows revenues in the salty snacks sector increased by 15% during the World Cup competition of that year, one third of which was accounted for by potato chips.
